Introduction to Selecting Tools
Student Objectives:
- Students will be able to identify selection tools in Adobe Photoshop CC
- Students will demonstrate knowledge of selecting tools by manipulating images (picture puzzles) in Adobe Photoshop CC
- Students will upload final images to shared Google Drive Folder

Procedure:
Day 1:
Introduction to Selecting Tools
Using the Rectangle Marquee Tool (Tulips Puzzle)

Selecting Tools:
Selecting tools enable you to choose or "select" areas you want to edit or apply changes to without changing the whole image.
Free Transform Command (Cmd+T):
The Free transform command allows you to rotate areas or manipulate the size and shape of an object.
Below are a series of images that have been taken apart and will need you to use the various selecting tools in Photoshop to piece them back together again.

The Free transform command allows you to rotate areas or manipulate the size and shape of an object.
Below are a series of images that have been taken apart and will need you to use the various selecting tools in Photoshop to piece them back together again.
Useful Quick Key Commands:
- Ctrl + C - Copy
- Ctrl + N - Open New Blank Document (when done after copying an image it will automatically give you the correct size for the copied image)
- Ctrl + X - Cut
- Ctrl + V - Paste
- Ctrl + Z - Go back one step (for mistakes)
- Ctrl + T - Free Transform (hit enter to apply changes)
- Ctrl + D - Deselect
1. Tulips:
Directions:
For this puzzle use the Rectangle Marque Tool to select the pieces. Cut (cmd+x) and paste (cmd=v) each piece this it will create a new layer with just that piece on it. Make sure you are clicking back on the background layer to select and cut each piece until there you have cut and pasted each piece on a new layer. Then use the move tool to move the pieces around to make the image whole.

Use the Quick Select Tool to select, cut and paste each piece of the puzzle. Once you have put each piece on its new layer piece the puzzle back together again. Note: Some of the piece in this puzzle have been flipped or rotated, you will need to practice using the Free Transform Command (Cmd+T) to put them the right side up.
