Pareidolia: The Art to Seeing Faces in Objects
Introduction:
The recognition of the human face and or characteristics (eyes, nose, mouth) is a hard wired response to visual information. It’s amazing how little it takes for people to see a human face — a tendency sometimes referred to as pareidolia.
“As soon as the infant can see, it recognizes faces, and we now know that this skill is hardwired in our brains. Those infants who a million years ago were unable to recognize a face smiled back less, were less likely to win the hearts of their parents, and less likely to prosper. These days, nearly every infant is quick to identify a human face, and to respond with a goony grin.”
~ Carl Sagan
Assignment:
Using your observation skills, search the school for objects/arrangements that resemble the human face. The challenge of course is that you will have to look for these combinations of shapes. You probably have already seen many examples before.
